Learn how to quickly convert your PPT files to JPG directly from PowerPoint, without using an online converter.

Why convert a PPT file to JPG?

Do you need to use a PowerPoint presentation as an image for a website, a social media post, or simply to make it easier to send by email? Converting your PPT file to JPG is an effective solution to simplify distribution and avoid compatibility issues. Some businesses use PowerPoint to create social media posts instead of presentations, and exporting to jpeg allows them to be posted directly on platforms. To carry out this manipulation via PowerPoint professionals, contact our agency specialized in PowerPoint.

How do I convert a PPT file to JPG directly on PowerPoint?

PowerPoint allows you to easily convert your PPT files to JPG without using external tools. All you need to do is use the options built into the Microsoft software.

To do this, open your PowerPoint file, click File, then Save as. Select JPG in the dropdown menu of available formats, and finally click on Save.

Alternatively, you can go to File then Export, and change the file extension:

Choose JPEG in preference to maintain a reasonable file size.

How do I select which slide to be converted to JPG?

When you choose to convert a PPT file to JPG, PowerPoint gives you two options: convert the entire presentation or convert a single specific slide.

To convert a single slide, select it in the left pane, then when saving as JPG, choose “Only this slide” in the conversion settings.

How do I export a JPG in very high resolution?

By default, the export resolution for a PowerPoint slide that you want to save as an image is 96 dots per inch (DPI).

To change the export resolution, follow these steps. Be careful, here we are touching on the application's registry settings.

  1. Quit all Windows-based programs.
  2. Click on start, then click execute.
  3. In the zone Open , type Regedit, then click OK.
  4. Search for one of the following registry subkeys, depending on what version of PowerPoint you are using: PowerPoint 2013 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\ Software\\ Microsoft\\ Microsoft\\ Office\\ 16.0\\ PowerPoint\\ Options
  5. Click on the subkey Options , point to Nouveau in the menu Edition , then click DWORD value.
  6. Type ExportBitmapResolution and press ENTER.
  7. Make sure ExportBitmapResolution is selected, then click Edit in the menu Edition .
  8. In the dialog box Change the DWORD value , click on decimal.
  9. In the zone Value data , type the resolution value you want, for example 144 to export in 1920 x 1080.
  10. Click on OK
  11. In the menu file , click on Quit to exit Registry Editor.

For information, here are the resolution equivalences for a 16:9 slide.

144 = 1920x1080

200 = 2667x1500

300 = 4000x2250

What are the differences between JPG, JPEG, and PNG formats?

The JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) and JPEG format are the same, and both are suitable for compressing images with slight loss of quality, ideal for photos or simple graphic presentations. PNG, on the other hand, makes it possible to manage transparency and offers better quality without loss but generates heavier files.

Converting PPT to JPG: do you need an external converter?

You don't need an external converter to turn your PPT files into JPGs. Microsoft PowerPoint is more than enough to perform this operation quickly and simply, without risking the security of your data. In addition, you will be able to control the quality of your exported photos.

Why focus on direct conversion via PowerPoint?

Converting directly via PowerPoint ensures better security because your files stay on your computer, unlike an online conversion where you have to upload your files to an external server. It is also a faster and more convenient way.

The benefits of converting a PPT file to JPG for your presentations

Converting your PowerPoint presentation to JPG makes it easy to share it, especially on social networks, by email or on a website. It also ensures universal compatibility and quick viewing without requiring PowerPoint software.
